Commitments
In 2010 we have delivered significant progress against our Community Engagement Strategy objectives.
We make the following commitments for 2011.
A Better Environment
• Publish a Departure Code of Practice for airlines operating out of London Luton Airport
• Work with National Air Traffic Control and our airline partners to ensure at least 90% of arriving aircraft perform a Continuous Descent Arrival (CDA)
• Reduce CO2 emissions from Airport controlled buildings to under 20,000 tonnes by 2013 against current levels
• Publish an employee environmental guide to encourage employee awareness of environmental best practice at work and at home.
A Vibrant Neighbourhood
•Continue to develop our employee volunteering policy and organise at least 15 volunteering challenges
• Engage with five young people and enable them to experience working in an airport environment
• Commit £50,000 to the Airport Community Trust Fund
• Commit £10,000 to the Airport Charity of the Year
A Growing Economy
• Continue to develop the London Luton Airport Apprenticeship programme and recruit a further three apprentices in 2011
• Work with stakeholders to hold an event to support the local supply chain
• Show practical support for regional tourism, through partnerships, active participation, and exposure to our 4.5 million inbound passengers
• Continue to work towards achieving the ‘Investors in People standard’.
